Monday Blues

So I was super excited to not have work today. Coop and I went shopping this morning with my mom and then we just hung out this afternoon. He was really off because he didn't get a good nap this morning so our afternoon and evening were interesting. These pics I took of him hanging out with me in his high chair. He makes this cute face where he purses his lips out when he is concentrating and trying to get something and I finally caught it on camera today.

Friday Hike

Surprise this post is about me and not Cooper. :>) On Friday I headed up in the morning and dropped Cooper off with my mom and my dad and I drove to Shaver where we met up with our friends Rick and Leslie. From there the 4 of us drove to Kaiser Pass to head out on a 3 mile hike to Idaho Lake. My dad had it all mapped out on two maps, plus he had his GPS. We started off on a clearly marked trail until we got to a cute little meadow at the bottom of a large ridge. Since we couldn't really tell where the trail went from there we decided to climb to the top of the ridge. That's when we discovered some beautiful views of the Sierras... and of our destination. After a little investigating and pouring over the maps my dad discovered we were no where near the trail and probably had never even been on the correct trail. So we were faced with a decision, head back down and try to find the trail... or make our way down the side of this ridge making a direct route toward the lake. Well we chose the direct route and as scary as it was scaling the side of the ridge we made it down and to the lake. Now since we had never been on the right trail we had to decide if we wanted to try to find our way back, or take another trail out and hitch hike back to the car? We chose the well known, clearly marked trail to the highway. Once we made it to the road we hitch hiked back to our car and finally made it down the hill. Our 3 mile hike turned into a 7.2 mile hike, but was well worth the afternoon of adventure!

He's Crawling!!!

video

So Cooper is crawling.... well I'm calling it inch worming. So that means nothing is safe anymore. I am trying discipline 101 by telling him no and slapping his hand but as you can imagine a 7 month old just stares at me and makes his way as fast as he can back toward the ducks. At this point I can't help but die laughing at the speed in which he can inch worm his way to where he wants to go and I am still laughing while I slap his hand and tell him NO. Oh well we will all learn. In the mean time it is loads of entertainment to watch him in this next phase of his little life!

Coldplay in San Jose!

So last night we drove down to San Jose with Bill and Michelle to a Coldplay concert. We were supposed to go with our friends Brian and Jacinda, but they couldn't go.... so this post is really for the 2 of them. We got there with plenty of time to enjoy dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory within walking distance of the HP Pavillion. The opening 2 bands were not really worth the rush to get in the doors by 7:30, but Coldplay finally made their entrance at 9:00 and they rocked it! The Pavillion was packed with all 15,000 seats filled and the band put on a great show. I was worried, for some reason, they wouldn't sound as good live as their CD but they did. They mixed it up with some old and some new songs from their latest album. The stage was amazing too, with these huge globes that lowered and raised from the ceiling and my favorite part of the night was the ending where paper butterflies flowed down covering the people with floor seats. It was a great concert and well worth getting home at 2:30 in the morning for. Our seats were really good too, Thanks Brian!

Zucchini Bread - YUMMY!

On Monday afternoon our neighbors dropped off a bag of fresh tomatoes and zucchini from their garden. I was super stoked! I have been craving fresh tomatoes and I'm finding every excuse to eat them. (tomato sandwiches, summer salad, and tacos). The Zucchini was huge so I made Zucchini bread from our friends' recipe. The Teters shared their recipe on their blog last week. It was so good, when Dave got home he couldn't wait so he picked up the entire loaf and took a bite. I made another loaf to give to our neighbors to say thanks. This will be my family recipe for Zucchini bread from now on. Thanks Teters!!!

Bed Head and Bath Time

So on Sunday Dave had taken an afternoon nap and when he got up I couldn't stop cracking up at his bead head. He had the "emo" hair going on. We also took some pics of Cooper after his bath on Sunday night. He still loves his bath. He splashes and plays now so we get all wet too.

Saturday Night Grill-N

Last night Dave and I had Grilled Fondue for dinner. We have a little grill that is heated by a sterno and you use fondue sticks to place your meat and veggies on it. We set it up in the living room and had our arangement of beef and shrimp, eggplant, zucchini, and peppers, dipping sauces and seasonings. We watched Stand By Me and grilled to our hearts content. When we were done with dinner I wanted roasted marshmellows for dessert, but the only thing I had was mini marshmellows. So we roasted them over the sterno flame. Next time we will surely invite friends over and make a party of it!

Friends on Friday Night

Friday night we went over to the Hales to hang out with our out of town friends Bogie and Becca, who live in Riverside and were in town for a couple of days. It was such a relaxing evening of pizza and fellowship. So nice to have friends that we can hang out with till the late hours of the night and feel refreshed driving home! Thanks guys.

KRAZY KID

video

What do you do with a teething baby when it's 109 degrees outside? Take him in the pool! Coop and I spent the afternoon in his pool to take his mind off his tooth. We had fun, but it's still hot. This evening he was a KRAZY KID hanging out on the floor while Dave and I fixed dinner in the kitchen. He is really loving sitting up these days. He can hang out for a long time and play with out falling over. He feels like such a big boy sitting up like all the adults. He is still trying to crawl but he just scoots backwards instead of forward. He's real close, and then it's all over for me once he's mobile. It's so warm tonight that I had to take a cold shower and make myself a MOJITO. Well it's off to enjoy the clean, quiet house with Dave......and my MOJITO!

His 1st tooth

So last night I discovered Cooper has a tooth! I can feel the little razor poking through his gums on the bottom. Funny because he really hasn't shown any sign of teething, but it's deffinately there. I'll post a pic when it gets a little more visible. It's amazing how much the change in their 1st year of life. It all happens so fast.

....and 6th!........................

Today we went to lunch at CPK for my sister in law's birthday. Michelle is turning 25 tomorrow. We celebrated with her parents, 1 of her brothers and our family. Poor Coop was still recovering from his long weekend so he was a little cranky during lunch, but I finally got him to fall asleep. Dave and I also got lights to add to the ambiance of our new back yard. We bought star lights to hang under the umbrella of our new patio set, candle holders, and fun lights for the patio cover. We sat out there tonight. It's so relaxing to have a place to hang out that's not in front of the TV. I can tell we'll be using it all the time!

..... and 5th!........................

So our celebrating continued into Sat. We headed up to Shaver to hang out with all our friends at the lake. Since my parents are between boats we had to hitch a ride on our friend Rick's boat. We spent the day on the beach. Cooper loved swimming in the lake as you can see in the video we took. In the evening we headed over to a little beach that had an awesome view of the fireworks. Cooper actually stayed awake Sat. night and he really enjoyed the fireworks. We parked at our friend Kori's family cabin and got to see them before we headed down the hill. It was such a perfect day filled with family and friends.

Happy 4th!.....................................

So Friday we had a nice relaxing day at home.... since we didn't have plans we called some friends on Thurs. and invited anyone over who also didn't have plans. Our friends Chad, Marissa and their daughter Lana, Rebecca, TJ and their daughter Ashley (AKA Cooper's girlfriend) and Bill and Michelle all came over to our house Frid. evening. Dave and I had everything ready to go early in the day so we were just hanging out and at 5:00, 1 hour before our guests were to be here, we decide to run to Target to invest in some Patio furniture. Well we did it! We got home at 5:55 with brand new patio furniture that was on clearance and for the 1st time in 6 years we were excited to hang out in our back yard. We Bar B Q'd and then did fireworks in the street after it got dark. It was a fun evening. I loved seeing Cooper and Ashley interact. Poor Coop couldn't make it through the fireworks though, it was just past his bed time! Ashley loved them, and so did Lana.

MMMmmmmeal time!

Just some cute pics of Coop's meal time. He is really expanding his diet. He loves Avocado, which is what is all over his face in these pics. He eats bananas, rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, mangoes, and he just tried pineapple last night and liked it! Such a good eater.
